The Young herbalist
Drinking tea every day gives us a chance to sit and decompress quietly with each other. We read books or poems, paint or colour while we sip. We learn how to use certain herbs when we have the sniffles and others when we’re feeling sad or scared or anxious.
Tea time is not just for grandmothers. It's good for the bodies and minds of all ages. It is a ritual that is becoming rarely practiced in modern North American households and rarer still shared with children. But it is the rituals and habits we develop in childhood that are the hardest to break and so why not make sure they are good ones that support good mental health.
That is exactly what I am hoping to give to families with The Young Herbalist. A way of introducing healthy habits that will follow children and adults alike throughout their lives to support their physical and mental health.
