Black Tractor Farms
Gillian Proudfoot and Bruce Weir operate a 1 1/2 acre micro farm specializing in salad greens and fresh vegetables located in Warkworth. They do not use pesticides of any kind and grow using sustainable methods of soil management. This includes cover crops, compost and minimal tillage.
Their salad mixes evolve during the course of the summer. Look for spinaches and lettuce mixes during the cool seasons. Arugula and salad kale will appear in June and throughout the rest of the season. Don’t be surprised to see flowers and beet greens in your salads. By July Nasturtium flowers will be included!
