4 Acres Hydroponics

Brad and Kristin Bell run a hydroponic vegetable farm in Stirling. They grow a variety of greens in their hydroponic greenhouse, located inside a custom-designed shipping container!  The vegetables are grown indoors, where they can control the air temperature, humidity, and co2 levels to optimize growing conditions. Seeds are planted in peat plugs and placed under LED lights where they germinate and grow for 3 weeks.  The seedlings are then transplanted into vertical towers where a drip irrigation system delivers nutrient rich water to the roots.  The plants grow toward a wall of lights for 3-4 more weeks until ready for harvest. Year-round local greens!
